Leaving Las Vegas On a Good Note

| | Comments (10)

u23dluxor.jpgLive from Las Vegas, amidst the tech-crazed audience of CES 2008, we screened U2 3D twice today for the media and a few friends. Each time the audience was released, I heard exclamations of "wow"! Everyone was buzzing with wide-eyed enthusiasm.

Thanks to the Luxor Theatre's 7-story IMAX screen and 30,000 watts of impeccable sound, Claudio Sennhauser, SanDisk's Technology Evangelist declared at the post-screening reception that U2 3D was "the most amazing experience [he'd] ever had in the theater. It's amazing how close you are. The perspective, the depth. Wow!"

His sentiment was reiterated over and over again by our media attendees. After nearly an hour and a half of adrenalin-pumping music immersion, Anh Tran, CEO of Greencine, claimed screening the film was "an experience rivaled by none." We agree and hope that you'll confirm this feeling for yourself when the film opens January 23, 2008 in select cities.

Man, color me jealous! I was just looking at the webpage that has theaters where the movie will be showing. The closest place to me is almost four hours away. I hope I get to see it sometime. Does anyone know if there will be other theaters added to the list of where it's showing?

Sorry. I'm done whining now. *g* I'm glad to hear that it is a good show, though I'm not surprised. I've seen U2 live and they always put on a excellent show. I would expect nothing less from the movie.

Will there be additional venues added. I too will have ~ 2 to 4 hrs to commute to see this "spectacular" every one in the media is talking about.

Yes, please let us know if you're adding more venues, especially, for me, Atlanta or Charlotte! :-)

I've heard all sorts of ads on the local Toronto radio stations (mix 99.9 fm was one of them) about U2 3-d at the IMAX. I was checking the 'Find a Theatre' link and it says it's only playing in Vancouver and Winnipeg? Anyone heard anything about this? I can't imagine 99.9 would be advertising this for MB and BC locations. Ouch, how could Toronto have been missed?

The venues they listed are NOT all of them. I freaked out too. They will be showing this at virtually every IMAX theater. I called here in Houston and they answered that it would be playing before I even asked. It's as if they knew what I was calling to ask.

I had the pleasure and privilege of attending the screening at the Luxor in Las Vegas. This was truly a movie and concert experience like no other! I can't wait for this movie to be released so I can see it again and again. A feast for the senses! Here's a link to my blog entry for this event.
